THE YEARS 1986 AND 1987: MY TIME IN LIMBURG, THE SOUTH OF THE NETHERLANDSIn 1986 , I passed my exams at the school of commerce (Mercatus college) in Rotterdam.
I decided to work at the Vonk Cheese factory , situated on the big industrial area
of Melick-Herkenbosch in Limburg.
I was feeling at home among the people of Limburg and I met some nice Limburg beauties
…… sometimes thanks to La Reina Negra !
On the 5th of October 1986 , I took part in a Citroën 15 SIX meeting in Uden.
I met Mr. Cuypers from Nederweert. He was a brilliant technician and noticed a technical
failure on La Reina Negra. It was repaired at his place and I was grateful for that.
In November 1986 , the engine was showing low compression. Unfortunately I couldn´t
drive any further and the engine had to be taken out.
After I found a new location for the car I started to dismantle the car again.
La Reina Negra was stored now in an ice factory (Dedert) in Melick-Herkenbosch..
(More details about the work done can be found in the part “Restoration”)
In September 1987 , La Reina Negra was ready to take part in the ICCCR
(International Citroën Car Club Rally) in the “Loreley” in Germany.
I took part in this very well organized event with my friends Nico Vreugdenhil
and Wim Roodenburg. (More details in the part “Events”)
