During my entertainment time in Ten Bel Tenerife , I met Debbie
from England. We liked each other a lot and before she knew it , I arrived
in England with La Reina Negra.
One British driver shouted at me : “What in the hell are you doing with a French
car in Britain !! I must say the British have a good sense of humor . That´s why
I had this sign on the back of La Reina Negra “Just Divorced” …(in stead of “Just Married”)
I left La Reina Negra in Holland and in 1993 I flew to Tenerife with Debbie and her son
Kristofer. We founded a sport and fitness centre (DEB STEP) and Debbie was doing very well as a step-aerobics
teacher.
Unfortunately the pressure was too great for us. Debbie went back to England and I needed
a break also. I started to work in Rotterdam harbour. I needed extra monies to prepare
La Reina Negra for the long journey to Tenerife.
While I was working on the car in the garage “Ruton” in Reeuwijk , I met a couple
who were journalists. They liked the idea of interviewing me about the planned
journey of La Reina Negra to Tenerife.
One week later I was on the front page of the local newspaper.
They wrote a nice article but they made one little mistake . (La Reina was not a taxi in London)
