THE YEARS 1997 – 2007:

On the 16th of December 1996 , I arrived with La Reina Negra in Tenerife. The temperature was 20 C and it was a very clear blue sky. You would think the ideal climate for a classic car. Nothing but true… The strong sun can ruin the paint and you had better not have a car outside near the coast-line (salt) I was lucky meeting Rita. She got me underground parking in Westhaven Bay in the Costa del Silencio.

I often went out with La Reina. During the ride the ladies were waving and of course I stopped . That was misunderstood by the taxi drivers. They thought I was stealing their bread (….) Between Christmas and New Year La Reina Negra was driven through Playa de la Americas to advertise DJ COBO and his New Years Party in the “Flying Dutchman”

The photo of "La Reina Negra" with Hans Grim's camera

During my work as an estate agent I met the photographer Hans Grim. I learned a lot from Hans about photography and improved my skills in this field. It was a Saturday in October 1998. Hans took a fantastic picture of La Reina Negra. He used a lens called “Nikor” of 20mm wide angle. The camera was a F 2,8 Nikon. Today, you can find Hans with pure biological products in the agriculture market In Las Chafiras-San Miguel.

In 1997 , I was working day (sales) and night (dj). I had no time for La Reina Negra and the car was left in the garage of the Santos family in Las Rosas-Las Galletas. I missed a little the atmosphere of a car club. One day , I noticed a poster for the Retro Cars Club with the text : VII Paaseo de Automoviles Clasicos 19 de Octubre 1997. I went to the meeting and became member (114) of the club. Mr. Miguel Pablo Sánchez Suárez was the president of the club . They often organised meetings , such as those in Gran Canaria or in La Palma.

In 1999 , La Reina Negra still had it´s Dutch licence plate 10-46-RX. It was obvious that I needed to legalize the car. I was informed by the car club that an historic licence number could be obtained. The car was legalized by Mr. Bade and it took almost one year (!!) to get the historic plate. The final cost was 226.987 Pesetas (Euro 1364,=) but it was worth doing it.
